International shipping, explained by someone who works with it every day
I created The International Desk to turn complex customs and cross-border changes into practical information that UK retailers can understand and use.

More than 19 years in logistics
I have spent more than 19 years working across parcel delivery and logistics, including over 17 years in international delivery and cross-border roles.
My career has included DHL Express, City Link, Yodel and Whistl. Today I work with UK businesses on international parcels, customs data, delivery routes and the practical problems that appear when selling into different countries.
That experience has shown me that a customs announcement can be technically correct and still leave a retailer asking the same question: What do I actually need to do?
Why I built The International Desk
International rules change across customs, tax, product safety, packaging and shipment data. The information often sits across long legal documents and several official websites.
This site brings the important parts together, links back to official sources and separates confirmed changes from proposals or general awareness. Each update now tells you who is affected, whether action is required and when the position was last checked.
How I approach the guidance
- Start with the practical question. What has changed, who does it affect and what should a UK seller do?
- Separate fact from proposal.A possible future rule should never read like a requirement already in force.
- Show the dates.Publication, review and effective dates help you judge whether information is current.
- Link to the source. You can open the official material and check the detail behind every briefing.
